Gone Fishin’

These boys laughed at me in Bali as I chased them up and down the beach, shooting images as they sent boat after boat of their fishing fleet out into the water.

What they didn’t understand (and I couldn’t communicate) was how much I was revelling in the similarity between these guys pushing a boat out into the water and the creeliemen in Orkney who’d do exactly the same thing.

Only wearing more clothes.

Obviously.

And would you say that the Creeliemen wearing more clothes was down to being wusses, or innate modesty? :-)

I think I’d invite you to go creel fishing in the North Sea wearing cut-offs and then record your own verdict!

Can we get a photo of the Creeliemen? Y’know, just for comparison and an excuse to make you go take more lovely pictures

I recently revelled in the similarity between you and the Meadows Marathon runners… except you had more wheels when you crossed the finish line. I still cheered though. :)

It’s like parallel evolution in practise!

I’d also like to see the Creeliemen. And to my very Southern ears, the Creeliemen sound like characters in a children’s cartoon. Or in Doctor Who. I an imagine them all coming at me with arms stretched out and covered in seaweed.

As one who paddled in the North Sea as a child, I’m with the very sensible creeliemen wearing more clothes! Even thinking about how cold that water was makes my toes turn blue!
